ACE Srl Showcases Breakthrough Circularity Model for Surgical Materials at MEDICA 2025

ACE Srl successfully concluded its participation at MEDICA 2025, presenting a major advancement in sustainable medical materials: high-performance extrusion films manufactured using certified circular polymers. The company’s presence attracted strong interest from customers, partners, and healthcare professionals, underscoring the sector’s growing commitment to circularity and reduced environmental impact.

At the event, ACE highlighted how its extrusion films — engineered for use in disposable surgical drape laminates — meet the most stringent medical standards while integrating circular polymers produced through advanced recycling. This innovation demonstrates how performance-critical medical products can meaningfully contribute to sustainability goals.

A Circular Value Circle Across the Healthcare Supply Chain

A central focus of ACE’s presentation at MEDICA was its strategic collaboration with SABIC, Zuydzerland Hospital, L’Ortye  and Mölnlycke Health Care, forming a pioneering circular value circle for medical laminate applications.

• SABIC supplies certified circular polymers derived from advanced recycling of used plastics
• ACE converts these polymers into medical-grade, high-barrier extrusion films
• Mölnlycke Health Care incorporates the films into its globally distributed sterile surgical solutions
• L’Ortye collects hospital “drape & gown -waste” for chemical recycling recycled at SABIC.

Sustainability Without Compromise

This closed-loop model reduces fossil-based feedstock dependency, supports material reuse, and significantly lowers the carbon footprint associated with surgical drape production. The circular initiative provides measurable benefits to the healthcare sector, including uncompromised compliance with international medical safety and performance standards.
