Gownace®: Full protection and comfort for hospital staff
Today more than ever, film-to-nonwoven materials are sought after that offer complete safety and full protection to the wearer.
THE GOWNACE® RANGE
The fully impermeable laminates that we deliver for surgical staff gowns come with a bacterial barrier film. Our products are designed to provide comfort and assurance to the wearer. All of our products meet EN13795 requirements (high performance critical area).
REINFORCEMENTS
We provide a range of 2 ply laminates that are used to reinforce the critical areas of a surgical gown. With a choice of hydrophilic or hydrophobic nonwoven, we can adapt a product to suit the sterilisation method you use. The laminate is impermeable with the choice of incorporating a breathable film.
FULLY REINFORCED GOWNS
G72 is a breathable three-ply laminate that meets EN13795 and AAMI Level 3 requirements. It is used in the manufacture of ‘ultra’ gowns that are reinforced throughout – so no need for additional reinforcement or rework.

EN13795
All of the films and laminates we provide to the medical market meet the requirements set out in the EN13795 norm. Whether for STANDARD or HIGH performance critical area, we have the right film or laminate for the right job.
Each of our products is tested to all of the requirements for drapes and gowns as set out in the norm, providing you with peace of mind and the guarantee that you are using the right raw materials.
Multi-layer Lamination
FILM EXTRUSION
Working with several extruders allows you to produce films in several distinct layers.
The layers can incorporate a colour, a special resin to give a particular performance aspect to the film, or skin layers that have a special function. In addition, working with multi-layer technology allows us to introduce recycled granules into the core of the structure – which goes a long way in supporting sustainability and circularity goals.
LAMINATION
Sometimes, a film needs just one nonwoven on one side; the overall effect, a soft, light and texture-like waterproof composite to be used as a hygiene disposable backsheet.
Another application may require a much heavier absorbent nonwoven applied to the film, with a soft and light nonwoven on the reverse side. A good example would be a heavy surgical drape with a comfort layer.
Then you may need a laminate that is extremely absorbent – in one area. Here we build up the layers, using different substrates to give the high performance required.

Plastace
PLASTACE IS A RANGE OF FILMS AND LAMINATES FOR WOUNDCARE APPLICATIONS
Using specially chosen polymers and processes, Plastace delivers a soft yet robust carrier that flexes well on application to a wound.
For premium plasters, we offer a film with nonwoven backing. The choice of nonwoven technology is critical.
If the nonwoven is too strong, the product will not stretch; if it is too soft, we risk losing overall performance of the plaster.
Delivered in clear, white and skin colours, and in range of basis weights, we have the right solution for your product.

ACE has been producing breathable films for roofing membranes for over 20 years.

Our microporous film comes in either polyethylene or polypropylene. It is offered in white, dark grey – or a colour tailored to your brand.

Which translate into absorption, strength, bulk, softness, barrier properties and affordability for the application.
Perforation
ACE uses what is called ‘vacuum perforation’. This involves producing a precursor film, with or without surfactant, then taking it through a process of reheating over a perforated cylinder at the same time as sucking molten film through the holes of the cylinder. This process creates the hole we are looking for. Both size, depth and 3D shape.
These three will affect the performance of the film – depending on the purpose of course.
Last by not least, our flexible technology allows us to add even more value to our film. We can coat it. And we can laminate nonwoven to it.
